Mahmoud Mokhtar
(1891-1934 )
Mahmud Mokhtar grew up in the village of Tanbarah. His father, Ibrahim, al-
Issawi was the mayor of the village, but Mokhtar lived with his
grandmother for his mother in his uncle's house in the village of Nasha in
Mansoura
Mokhtar lived most of his life and had little money. He
did not care for money or marriage in the world
because of his keenness to serve his art and his
mission.
When a young child spent most of his time next to the
canal, he saw scenes in the mud that he saw around him
in the village.
Mahmoud Mukhtar came to Cairo in 1902 and lived in
its old neighborhood. The school of fine arts opened
nearby. The "Grammar Trail" in 1908 was the entrance of
the boy to an unexpected future.
