• Cause effect relationship.

Cause refers to
the agent what brings about something;
Effect is the result, which the agent
brought.
• An event that ends in result is called a
cause while the result is known as the
effect.
• To identify causes, we ask, Why did this
happen? To identify effects, we ask, What
happened because of this?
How do you think of other possible causes/effect
for situation?
We think of other events that could
bring about a given situation (cause) or
other results of a given cause (effect).
• To identify other possible causes, we
ask, What are the other reasons why did
this happen? To identify other possible
effects, we ask, What else happened
because of this?
Ask the children to determine the part that states
the cause and effect in the following sentences.
1. The contribution of a child’s income or labor at
home can move a family from hunger to bare
sufficiency.

effects. These sentences were taken from the
news item “Honest cabbie gets plaudits from
Arroyo”.
1. President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo
praised the New York cab driver because
he returned a bag of pearls to his
passenger.
2. By returning the pearls Sulpico demonstrated to
the world the Filipino value of honesty.
3. Sulpico earned widespread praise from the city
because he returned a bag of rare South
Pacific earls to his passenger.
4. Sulpico was honored with commendations by
the New York Taxi and Limousine
Commission as well as Mayor Michael
Bloomberg because of his honesty.
5. The price of being a celebrity is beginning
to get in the way of his work. He finds
himself answering his cell phone while on the
road with a passenger.
6. He tries to remain humble and modest, and
is carefully watching his back, aware that
anything he says and does can always go
under the microscope.
