INTRODUCTION
THERE ARE ALWAYS VARIOUS PRINCIPLES THAT REPRESENTS THE CONCEPT TO
INFLUENCE AN ENTIRE DESIGN INCLUDING LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE. THESE
PRINCIPLES ARE APPLIED IN DIFFERENT WAYS AND IS A GREAT HELP IN DESIGNING
THE AREA.

BUT KEEP IN MIND THAT THESE ARE JUST PRINCIPLES AND ARE NOT RULES THAT
EVRYONE MUST FOLLOW. OFTEN TIMES, THE USE OF THESE IS CONSIDERED AS THE
STARTING POINT OF EVERY DESIGNER AND THEY WILL STRETCH, RECONFIGURE, AND
TURN THEM INSIDE OUT AS THEY APPLY NEW IDEAS THAT SUCCESSFULLY IMPLY
AESTHETIC AND FUNCTIONAL NEEDS OF A LANDSCAPE

• Consistency of the design theme
REPETITION • The repeated use of any elements in the design

RHYTHM • Addresses an organized movement within the landscape.
• Gives the particular mood of the landscape
UNITY • The oneness of the elements in a landscape composition
• It creates the link between plants, hardscapes, and the plants

• 3 types: Symmetrical, Asymetrical & Radial
