loyalty program in 2020

Air Canada--Aeroplan--Aimia

• Aimia is a data-driven marketing and loyalty analytics company based in

Montreal, Quebec. It manages various loyalty programs including Aeroplan in
Canada.

• Aeroplan is a loyalty program owned by Aimia. The Aeroplan program was

created in July 1984 by Air Canada as an incentive program for its frequent flying
customers. In 2002, because of the economic crisis, Aeroplan was spun off as a
separate corporate entity and was eventually sold to Aimia.

• After 15 years, presently, Air Canada is in a better financial position. That is why
Air Canada decides to start its own customer loyalty program.
