GLOBAL WARNING

-POPULATION EXPLOSION
-FOOD CRISIS
-GLOBAL WARMING
Rate of increase = births - deaths

Though birth rate remains constant or

has a slightly drop, but the death rate
drops rapidly.

THEREFORE EXPLOSION !!!!!!!!!

During the 20th century, the world's population increased almost fourfold,
from 1.6 to 6 billion. Until very recently there were fears that in the next
century, world population would explode to some 12 billion people, leaving
little room for wilderness areas to preserve wildlife and putting extreme
pressure on food production, water and non-renewable resources.
What are the effects of
population explosion?
• 6 million hectares of forest are chopped
down each year.

The speed of extinction of plants and

animals attributable to human activities is
10,000 times faster than the natural
quotient.
• About 5 million people die every year from
illnesses associated to organic wastes.
• Water necessities will increase to 20% by 2025.
Approximately, one half of wetlands around the
world have been lost since 1900.
• higher crimes , harder life.
• higher price of commodites..fuel, gas, food,
clothes,
• environment is being destroyed..green house
effect...global warming
• less employment oppurtunities
• mammals (animals) are beeing exterminated
Preventation
• people in cities can get better education
continue to strive to reduce suffering by
combating disease and poverty around the
world;
• continue to improve resource efficiency and
pollution control so that standards of living can
rise without negative impact; and
• keep human population to numbers that are
sustainable.
Population Control Policy
China : one family one child
Hong Kong (past): 2 children is
enough
India :
-in the mid 1970s
-concentrated on male sterilisation.
-strong resistance developed to the
concept family planning.
Tunisia and Jamaica:
-improved the provision of freely
available family planning advice and
materials.
-introduction of education skills and a
general raising of the economic
-improved the health of mother and
the child by preventive medicine.
THE CAUSE OF FOOD CRISIS

1/ Political instability
War  destroy the agriculture  less food produced
2/ Unfair trading policy
well developed countries deprive the less-development
3/Uneven distributed food supply
Though food production is increasing faster
than the population1/3 world population
(well developed countries)
consume ½ world food supply
4/Unbalanced population distribution
population of less-developed countries >>>
population of well developed countries
Consumption of less-developed countries>>>
consumption of well developed countries
5/ Deforestation inhibits food production
Soil erosion -> soil no longer fertile
6/ Natural disasters
Droughts, floods, pests Slow-down of food production
7.Famine in less-
developed countries
Food is enough for everyone?
Ifthe population still keep on increasing,
the food problem will be worsen
Country Population at
risk

Burundi 2 million

Djibouti 230,000

Ethiopia > 10 million

Kenya 3.5 million

Malawi 4.9million
Mozambique 801000
Somalia 2.1million
Tanzania 3.7million
Zambia 1.4million
FOOD CRISIS IMPACT

• food prices increased 50% over 5 years ago

• Cereal prices increased 17%

• he price escalation has caused the protests and the violence in many countries,
including Egypt, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Philippines and Indonesia. In Haiti, the
protests last week turned into violence, leaving five people dead and the
government collapsed. India, China, Vietnam and Egypt have restricted exports
of rice. Importing countries such as Bangladesh, Philippines and Afghanistan
have been strongly affected.

• Khi cánh cổng ở một trung tâm cứu đói tại Kano, phía bắc Nigeria bật mở,
những người nghèo từ phía ngoài như dòng lũ tràn vào bên trong, hy vọng
kiếm được chút lương thực qua ngày.
• When the gate in a famine relief center in Kano, northern
Nigeria turned open, the poor from the outside as flood
overflow line inside, hoping to earn some food through the day.
How to solve this problem?

•The food aids

•Teaching the agriculture technology to the people in those

countries

•New policies to the agriculture and trading system.

•Reduction of energy loss and food loss

-reduce the energy loss during TROPHIC TRANSFER , such as eat
plants
-reduce the waste of food
• investment of six billion from the World Bank Group
What is global warming?

• Global warming is thought to be caused by

the large amounts of carbon dioxide which
are being released into the atmosphere by
the burning of coal and oil. This trapping of
heat in the atmosphere is what causes an
increase in the Earth’s temperature.
Global Warming and
Population
• There is a consumption of natural
resources for each person on earth
• more cars which leads to an increase use
and burning of fuel which speeds up the
global warming effect.
What are some things we can
do?
• use energy efficient products. (These
emblems are placed on appliances and
other items, for example light bulbs.)
• Walk, bike or carpool to work
• Use of public transportation is also another
good choice
• plant a tree
