WHAT DO WE USE THE SECOND CONDITIONAL TO?

Examples:
IF-CLAUSE PAST SIMPLE WOULD + INFINITIVE

 If I met the Queen of England, I would say hello.

 She would travel all over the world if she were rich.

WOULD + INFINITIVE IF-CLAUSE PAST SIMPLE


FUTURE

AFFIRMATIVE FORM:

If I won the lottery, I would buy a big house.

She would pass the exam if she ever studied.


FUTURE

NEGATIVE FORM:

If I had a better job, I wouldn’t be living with my


parents.

If I didn’t for work a German company, I wouldn’t


be learning German.

INTERROGATIVE FORM:

What would you do If you won a lot of money?

If you were looking for a cheap computer, where


would you shop?
PRESENT

AFFIRMATIVE FORM:

If I had his number, I would call him.

If I were in Brazil, I would go to Rio de Janeiro.

NEGATIVE FORM:

If I were you, I wouldn’t go out with that man.

If he were in my place, he wouldn’t do this.

Second Conditional:
If I had enough money, I would buy a house with

shoes.
