ACTIVITIES
INBOUND LOGISTICS
• Proton orders raw materials and
certain already made products that
are needed to manufacture cars from
several suppliers.
• Suppliers will need to follow Proton
Quality& Standard manual (can be
obtain from internet).
• In 2005, Proton has 287 vendors
which for many of car part;
wheels,body,and raw material.
• 3000 sub-suppliers,which have 5000
components.
• This suppliers will send the raw
material to the Proton Manufacturing
Plant warehouse at PROTON Shah
Alam and Tanjung Malim.
OPERATIONS
• Proton starts its assembly line using raw materials and certain
made products by producing the car skeleton, engines, and so forth
that is needed for cars production.

• During this operation, man power and robotics are involved.


OUTBOUND LOGISTICS
Before this,the cars produced by Proton
was sent straight from Proton
manufacturing plant to its Outlets such as
Proton Edar Sdn Bhd.
In 2011,Proton launches 2 centralised hub
known as CLASS (The Centre for
Logistics, Allocation, Storage and
Services) which in Sijangkang(Hulu
Langat) and Tanjung Malim(Perak) One of Proton EDAR Sdn Bhd

 Cars from the Proton Shah Alam manufacturing plant are now sent
to the Sijangkang hub for storage, stock storage maintenance,
washing , fuelling and pre-delivery inspection before being sent via
trucks to sales outlets, to be subsequently delivered to
customers.This same process is practised at CLASS hub in Tanjung
Malim

• This hub will standardise the pre-delivery inspection of all vehicles,
and this ensuring fast delivery of cars for domestic market,
unnecessary waiting time to a maximum of 3days.
MARKETING & SALES
• Cars that are completed in production will not be kept in the
manufacturing plant but being distributed to Proton Edar and the
amount depending on the request.

• Any new models that are out will go through several marketing
channels like newspaper, radio, brochures, and also advertisement on
television.

• Proton Edar has its own sales representatives and also allows other
appointed sales representatives to promote and sell.
SERVICES
• “Proton Service” offers service and
maintenance for examples engine oil,
gear oil, brake oil, grease, tires, batteries,
wear and tear parts, air filter, cabin filter,
oil filter, wiper blades, collision body,
starters and alternators, lighting, exhaust
components and spark plugs and sell
genuine spare parts for their customers.
• Proton has exceptional after-sale services
for its customers.
• Proton’s customer care 24-hour Mobile
Assist provides customers roadside
assistance in any unexpected accident.
• There are also more than 30 service
centres, branches, test-drive centres and
showrooms strategically placed nation-
wide for customer convenience .
• Other services include online
booking for servicing or buying
new car and pick up & delivery
services for customer
convenience .

TECHNOLOGY
Car Design Concept
• For designing the car, Proton use AUTODESK 3D modeling
software .Autodesk digital prototyping technology has also helped
the company to reduce the total time spent on car design by 20 %.

• Proton such as the Suprima S, Prevé, Exora, Saga FLX, Persona,
and Satria Neo, including the latest Proton Iriz were designed using
Autodesk 3D technology.
Manufacturing Plant
• For car producing, as many as 180 robotic arms can go to work
concurrently, taking only 20 minutes to complete a chassis, and
producing around 350 cars a day at full capacity.

Car’s Engine
• Proton use CamPro engine ,made at Proton’s child company, Lotus
in UK.
• First use in Gen-2 in 2004,and remain as entire Proton’s cars
engine.
• The engine has been improved for better efficiency and practicality,
offering better fuel consumption, power figures, and emissions.

PROCUREMENT
• This part includes purchasing
activities and what proton does to
get the resources it need to
operate, this also includes finding
vendors and negotiating best
prices.
• Proton purchase raw material for
their production, including the iron
used for steel, aluminum, glass,
the petroleum products used to
make plastics, rubber, and special
fibers, part and components from
both local and foreign
manufacturing as an effective
supply chain managements
• Some of Proton’s global suppliers
are Clarion, Lucas and TRW, while
the list of local suppliers are
summarized in table below.
