    The computer has impacted the music industry in several ways over the past 67 years. Early computers were used to record music as far back as 1951. In the 1980s, computers like the Commodore 64 included sound chips that allowed users to create music. Today, computers are used for composing, recording, mixing, mastering and live backing of music. In the next 10 years, streaming services, cloud-based music apps and social media will further change the music industry, and new technologies like brain-wave reading hats and mobile device music apps will influence music creation. Microphones transmit sound signals into computers for uses like adding audio to presentations and mixing songs.
