The Story Of Me..!

Christina P. Barton
What makes
me..ME?
If you were to ask me, what
I am..I would simply reply “I
am a proud multi-racial
American.” One of my
grandmother’s is Native
American, our native tribe
is called ‘Tunica Biloxi’
and it is derived from
Marksville, Louisiana. The
other grandmother is
Mexican but was born here
in the U.S.A .My
Grandfather is African
American while the other is
French American. All of
these ethnicities make me
who I am.
Generation Y or
Millennial
I am part of Generation Y, I was born in 1987.
Apparently gas was .89 in the year 1987. The
world’s population reached 5 BILLION.! DNA
was first used to convict a criminal. The
Simpson’s made its first debut on T.V. and
Ronald Reagan was my president. I was born
during the technology age.
For as long as I can remember my mother kept 2 jobs, she
worked at a grocery store while she went to school to
become a barber all while raising 3 kids, that were 3 years
apart. We shopped at the Salvation Army and we would
sometimes eat at the church since they provided meals for
free. We were on food stamps for a very long time, I’d say
once I reached middle school things became somewhat
better and after my older brother graduated, it took a lot of
pressure off my mom and then I graduated which helped
and once my baby sister graduated high school my mother
finally lived out her goal to move to Viva Las Vegas,
where she continues to work 2 jobs just because she wants
to, not because she has anymore kids to raise.
I’m not too sure about most of my
family’s religious views. I know that my
grandmother is a Catholic and I myself
chose Baptist. I was baptized at the age of
13, by choice. I also respect the Muslim
culture, a couple years ago when I was
“searching” for myself and exploring
different routes I began doing heavy
research on the Islamic faith. I respect
everyone’s view on religion and their
idea of a Superior Being.
I would say I am 90% heterosexual. I support
Gay marriage to the fullest extent. I have
several gay family members as well as a best
friend that is homosexual and I love them to
pieces.
