Religion

- The major religion taking place in Italy is Roman Catholic.


- Some basic beliefs of this religion are that Catholics are the first and foremost Christians who
believe that Jesus Christ is the son of god, the bible is error-free and direct words of god, baptism
is your right for becoming a christian and is a necessity, God’s ten commandments are the
standards to live by, and the existence of the Holy Trinity.
Language

- The majority of the population in Italy speak italian… kids in school are taught italian grades 6 and
up.

Holiday

- On the 25th of April the country of Italy celebrates Liberation Day. Liberation Day commemorates
the liberation of Italy by Allied troops in the Second World War. The holiday is meant to honor all
those who died during the war including soldiers and civilians victims.
- “Bella Ciao” is a folk song sung by every band and sung at every street corner throughout the day.
The lyrics symbolize freedom. On this day most stores and transportation companies close and
festivals are held throughout.
Recipe

Pasta E Fagioli

- 4 tablespoons of virgin olive oil


- 1 sprig fresh rosemary
- 2 finely chopped cloves of garlic
- 1 small red onion chopped
- I small carrot chopped
- 1 small celery stalk chopped
- 3 ounces pancetta diced
- 3 fresh sage leaves
- 2 cups of cannellini beans
- 4 ¼ cups of water
- ½ lb of spaghetti
- ½ of freshly ground cheese
- Fresh parsley finely chopped
Tourist Attraction - Colosseum

- The colosseum is an amphitheater in the centre city of Rome. It can hold up to 80,000 people and
was built out of concrete and sand. The colosseum was used for gladiatorial contests, public
spectacles, animal hunts, and dramas based on Classical mythology.
Tourist Attraction - Grand Canal

- Is a canal located in Venice, Italy. It forms one of the major water-traffic waterways in the city. The
canal provides transportation and a gondola is used for tourists to explore the canal. The canal
leads into the lagoon near the Saint Lucia railway station and the other ends leads into the Saint
Mark basin.
Tourist Attraction - Florence Cathedral

- Also known as the “Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Flowers” is the main church of Florence, Italy. It
was built in between the 1200’s and 1400’s with a gothic style. It is a large attraction with its
history and vibrant colors.

- Partio Democratico: This is the leading party of the country. This is there democratic party.
- Forza Italia: This is the conservative opposition party.
- Five Star Movement: This is considered as the Digital Democracy. This is known as the anti establishment
populist movement that advocates direct democracy.

- To vote you must register at least 90 days before the election and you must register where you live
in Italy.

does not use the death penalty. All of these punishments are comparable to the U.S.

Current Relations with the United States

- The bond between the U.S and Italy is one of the strongest between any two countries. The United
States and Italy are currently working on promoting peace and freedom worldwide. These two
countries share a very strong trading relationship. They also participate in many exchange
programs together. Both NASA and the Italian Space Cooperation work together after signing a
memorandum. Overall, the United States and Italy have very good relations compared to other
countries.
