• Operating in a VMware environment

Platform Functionality
Design Phase

• Co-develop with UAB IT Research

Computing a platform allowing for self-
deposit in the repository.

• Provide the ability to manage & share data

effectively

• Librarians manage the data curation.

Examples of Digital Assets
Set Up Phase

• images • works in progress

• data sets • brain-mapping data
• streaming media • article preprints/post
• protocols prints
• lab notes
In the Set Up Phase,
we’re testing right now…

• How to deposit large quantities of data.

• How to describe the data.

• Organizing the data in the repository.

• Preservation
In the Set Up Phase,
we’re asking…

• In what state or at what stage should data be

deposited?

• How much of it?

• How to handle data sets that are connected to

grants & publications.
Overall Pilot Goals:

• Distribute unique data that cannot be found through

conventional outlets.

• Share knowledge throughout the global community.

• Provide the UAB community a cohesive platform to

self-archive research.

• Build a repository that’s easy to use.
