Teacher as reflective practitioner
• What is reflective practice?
–Dewey (1910, p.6) wrote that reflective
practice refers to ‘the active, persistent
and careful consideration of any belief
or supposed form of knowledge in the
light of the grounds that support it’.
Then, teacher should,
• Reflect, express feelings, evaluate, analyse
problems and plan to make actions for
improvement.
• Encourage students to learn from experiences.
• Make proper consideration and give thought
to plan activities.
• Believe that everyone can improve.
• Know the importance of reflection to
understand situations better.
Teacher as researcher
• What is a teacher-researcher?
– Teacher who attempt to better understand their
practice and its impact on their students.
– Researching the relationship between teaching and
learning and how does it work.

• Why teacher conduct research?


– Try out certain approaches, methods or strategies to
obtain proof of effectiveness.
As a researcher, teacher should,
• Always thinking, changing and adapting
teaching and learning strategies to keep
students’ engaged.
• Cultivate culture of conducting research.
• Conduct action research and practice
reflective practice for improvement.
• Share with colleagues about the discovery.
