What is Special Education ?

• Ensure environment for individuals with disabilities to educate effectively.


• 3 to 21 years
• Disabilities that qualify for special education
1. Physical disabilities : deafness or blindness;
2. Mental disabilities : Down's syndrome and autism ;
3. Medical conditions : oxygen dependence or traumatic brain injury;
4. Learning deficits : dyslexia
5. Behavioral disorders : attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
IPRC ROLE
• It stands for Identification, Placement and Review Committee.
• Exceptional pupils are identified by IPRC.
• Upon receiving a written request from a student's parent(s)/guardian(s), the
principal of the school must refer the student to an IPRC.

• The parent(s)/guardian(s), as well as a student who is sixteen years of age or


older, have the right to attend the IPRC meeting and may request that the IPRC
discuss potential programs that would meet the student's needs.

• On the basis of these discussions, the IPRC can recommend the special
education programs and/or services that it considers to be appropriate for the
student.
RESEARCH METHADOLOGY

• Assess the facilities and problems available in special educational institute


of Gurgaon.

• Permission was taken from the authorities of the respective institute.

• Data was formally collected.

• Questionnaire cum interview schedule to gather information regarding the


same.
SAMARPIT
• Samartpit is a non-profit –voluntary organization
registered under Society Registration Act of 1860.

• The name of the society is “Sarvodhya Education Society” which is


also registered under 51 disability acts, under 12nization registered
under Society Registration Act 21of 1860. The name of the society is
12 AA in Income Tax and under 80-G of Income Tax. This society was
registered in April 2001 and after that I is serving the Mentally &
Hearing-impaired children from the last six years.
FACILITIES PROVIDED

• Range of activities and skill according to age, ability and fundamental level
of each child.
• Vocational training such as art and craft, pot decorating, cooking, etc.
• Weekly visited by therapist and E.N.T specialists.
• Participation in inter-school competition with normal children.
• Hostel facility under specially trained matrons.
• Need based training, life skills and above all the confidence to face the
world and its challenges.
PROBLEMS:
• Not having special kind of hearing machine due to which they get
benefit in hearing.

• A.C in summer season

• Parental issues.

• Not getting much fund or sponsorship.


GOOD THING TO SEE THERE :
• Children learn to live happily without any problem.
• They also earn money by doing little job like candle making, e.t.c
• They do activities through which they learn many curricular activities.
• Girls who pass the school , live happily their married life.
• Teacher patience, love toward children.
• Feel grateful by meeting the faculty as well as children. And we not
feel that they are special child.

RESULT:
• FROM OUR SURVEY : We conclude that samarpit provides the best
facilities as they can but a little bit facilities which may resist for the
development for the students like special machines for hearing, a.c in
summer, parents issue, excess irritation in student e.t.c.

• OUR GOAL
• Seminars and awareness programmes for parents of disabled children
to build. Positive attitudes an accepting their children and helping
them to cope up with daily problems. Vocational training gives
opportunities to make these special children self-dependent and
gainfully employed.
