TPMS Switch

The TPMS Indicator is installed in the dash panel. The TPMS

information is indicated on the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD).
The TPMS switch activates the TPMS.
The bending beam type loadcell is fitted with
strain gauges. The loadcell is installed between
the rear frame and the body. The loadcell
measures the weight of the payload.
The load pin is a loadcell that is fitted with strain
gauges. The load pin is installed in place of the
original pivot pin. The loadcell measures the weight of
the payload.
The load indicator lights are located on both
sides of the machine. These lights change from
green to red when the load has reached the
target payload.
The TPMS electrical harnesses connect the
components of the TPMS.
The remote RF transmitter is located at the rear of the cabin.
The remote RF transmitter is used to communicate with the
optional remote RF display.
The remote RF display is an optional component of the TPMS. The
remote RF display can be used to read the payload system remotely.
The TPMS information is indicated on the Liquid Crystal Display
(LCD).

Remote RF Display

The remote RF display works via a UHF radio frequency

and will display the same reading as the cabin mounted
TPMS indicator.

The remote RF display can be used in the Load Haul

Dump machine. The operator can monitor the payload
that is being loaded onto the truck.

Can be used at any remote location within radio signal

range.

Also, the remote RF indicator is used for

troubleshooting the TPMS.
The functions of the remote RF display are
the same as the cabin mounted TPMS
indicator. The buttons perform the same
functions but are configured differently.
To activate press the POWER button once.

The remote RF display should read the same as

the cabin mounted TPMS indicator display.
The remote RF display will only work if the TPMS is fitted
with a remote RF transmitter.
The remote RF display will only receive a signal if the
TPMS switch on the dash panel is in the ON position.
Press the POWER button to activate the remote
RF display.
R.F. MODE
When the power is ON, the display reads “R.F.
MODE” and then displays a weight reading.
If the display reads “OUT OF RF RANGE”, check
the following possible causes:
1. The TPMS switch in the cabin is in the OFF
OUT OF RF RANGE position.
2. The remote RF transmitter is not working.
3. There is little signal or no signal from the remote
RF transmitter.
If the remote RF display has not found a signal
within 30 seconds then it will automatically switch
off. To re-activate, press the “POWER” button
twice.
If the remote RF display has automatically
switched off, press the “POWER” button twice to
re-activate.
The battery needs recharging when the display
operates correctly but then fades away after a
short time.
OUT OF RF RANGE
If used in a Load Haul Dump machine, connect the
remote RF display to the power outlet in the
operator station.
The power outlet will power the remote RF display
and charge the batteries.
The remote RF display requires between 10 and
30 Volts DC to recharge the batteries.
Electrical Harness and Connectors

Electrical harnesses are a specially shielded

harness, composed of 4 wires plus a shield wire.
To maximize the life and reliability
of the electrical harnesses, make
sure the they are protected and
secured correctly.
Take care when handling connectors. Make sure the
pins and threads are aligned. Make sure the connectors
are dry and clean.
Make sure the connector seals so water and debris
cannot enter.

Water in connectors or loose connectors will cause

problems with the TPMS.
To test if the Truck Payload Measurement System
and all the components are functioning, complete
the following:

•Check the TPMS switch is operating

•Check the TPMS indicator in the cabin is operating
•Check the optional remote RF display is operating
•Check that all loadcells are operating
•Check the electrical harness and connectors
Switch on system.

Make sure the TPMS switch is in the ON position.

This is done normally with an Empty vehicle,
Check there is a reading on the TPMS indicator display.

Note the reading on the Screen.

Activate the remote RF display.
Check the reading on the remote RF display and the
TPMS indicator display are the same.
LOADCELL TEST

NOTE
Do not place bar under loadcell

•Test each loadcell individually. Make sure the remaining loadcell

harness connectors are disconnected at the loadcell.
•Only the loadcell or load pin connected should be tested.
•Make sure the body pad assemblies are adjusted correctly prior to
testing the loadcells.
•Use the remote RF display or have another person monitor the TPMS
indicator display while performing the loadcell test.
NOTE
Do not place bar under
loadcell

Use the bar as a lever to try and lift the

body. The loadcell should sense the
change of load as pressure is applied to
the bar.

1. Connect the electrical connector for the loadcell.

2. Install the end of the bar on the loadcell bolt head.
3. Pull down on the bar. The display should indicate a different reading as the load is
applied.
4. Repeat for each of the loadcells.
The load pins may have a slightly
different reading than the loadcells.

Use the bar as a lever to try and lift the

body. The load pin should sense the
change of load as pressure is applied to
the bar.

1. Connect the electrical connector for the load pin.

2. Install the end of the bar under the body pin mount.
3. Pull down on the bar. The display should indicate a different
reading as pressure is applied.
4. Repeat for the other load pin.
Visually check the electrical harnesses. Check for
damage and that connectors are water tight.
