 Basically population survey is almost the same

as population census, what differentiate the
two are time, coverage of area, and census
material

Efforts to overcome the problem of
Indonesia Population quantity

 Intensifying the transmigration program

 Setting minimum age for marriage by means of

and 20 for women
b. Population Quality

Crude mortality rate

1. Level of health
Life expectancy

Nutrition condition
Some of health problems faced by Indonesian
people

 The people’s living environment is generally dirty

an unhealthy
 The level of people’s income is generally low
 Prices of medicines are high
 The uneven distribution of medical center in all
areas

2. Level of education
Rate of Literacy
Some of the educational problems faced by
Indonesian people

 The level of income of Indonesian people is still

1. Education sector
 Conducting the program of 9 years compulsory
schooling
 Providing scholarships to high achieving students
with low financial capability

teaching facilities

 Improving nutrition
 Improving the quality of people’s

The Growth of Indonesia’s Population

 The change of population due to birth,

deaths and migration is called population
growth
3 factors affecting population growth ;

 Births
 Deaths
 Migration
Population growth is distinguished
into two types ;
1. Natural population growth is the
affecting factors of population growth are
births and deaths

formula : Pt = Po + ( L – M )

Pt = Jumlah Penduduk
Po = Jumlah penduduk pada awal tahun perhitungan

L = Jumlah kelahiran
M = Jumlah Kematian
Soal
 Penduduk Kabupaten Banyumas tahun 2000
ada 5.600 jiwa. Selama periode tahun 2000 –
2003 ada kelahiran 350 orang dan kematian 160
orang. Berapa jumlah penduduk Kabupaten
Banyumas pada tahun 2003

Jawab.
Pt = Po + ( L – M )
Pt = ?
Po = 5.600 L = 350 M = 160
Pt = 5.600 + ( 350 – 160 ) = 5.790 jiwa
2. Total population growth is the
factors affecting population growth are ;
births, deaths, and migration

formula : Pt = Po + ( L – M ) + ( I – E )

Pt = Jumlah penduduk yang dihitung

Po = Jumlah penduduk awal tahun perhitungan
L = Jumlah kelahiran
M = Jumlah kematian
I = Jumlah penduduk pindah masuk
E = Jumlah penduduk pindah keluar
Soal
 Penduduk Kabupaten Purbalingga tahun
2000 berjumlah 300.000 jiwa. Kelahiran
pada periode 2000 – 2003 tercatat 225.
Penduduk pindah masuk 70 orang, pindah
keluar 30 orang, meninggal dunia 80
orang. Hitunglah jumlah penduduk
Purbalingga tersebut
Jawab
 Pt = Po + ( L – M ) + ( I – E )
 Pt = ?
 Po = 300.000
 L = 225
 M = 80
 I = 70
 E = 30
 Pt = 300.000 + ( 225 – 80 ) + ( 70 – 30 )
= 300.000 + 185
= 300.185 jiwa

185 × 100% = 0,06%

300.000
Density of Indonesia’s Population

 Population density is The number of

people per square kilometer
Some of the factors that influence
the concentration of population are ;
 1. High fertility rate
 2. Land condition which is fertile
 3. Good relief
 4. Good water condition
 5. Center of government
 6. Center of education
 7. Center of economic activities
Population density is distinguished
into two types ;

number of inhabitants of an area per 1
km²
