What is the Holocaust?
• The Holocaust was the systematic
persecution and annihilation of
European Jewry by Nazi Germany
between 1933 and 1945.
• The term holocaust is a word of Greek
origin meaning “sacrifice by fire”
• In Hebrew the term used for holocaust
is “shoah” , meaning “catastrophe”
