What is the Construction stage?

The construction stage is the most important

stage in project management.

This stage also called as field working stage.

Effective communication methods must be

allocated in to this stage as involvement of various
parties in this stage.
As a project manager you must use effective
communication methods and skills to
communicate within construction stage.

There are 5 main skills in communication.

• Active listening.
• Non-verbal communication.
• Friendliness / trust and respect
• Open minded.
• Feedback and collaboration.
Active Listening

The receiver confirms that the message is being

received through feedback, questions, prompts for
clarity, and other signs of confirmation.

As a PM you must effectively listen to other parties

feedbacks and ideas to gain success in construction
stage.
Non-verbal communication.

Only 7% of our communication is verbal—the

content of our communication. 38% is conveyed
through the quality of voice—tone, volume, speed
and pitch.
So when you are at field you must use gestures,
expressions to communicate with contractors,
engineers and clients.
Friendliness / trust and respect

Using a friendly tone or simply a smile, you will

encourage your project team to engage in
open and collaborative communication process
with you. Trust and respect are the cornerstones
of personal relationships.
Open minded.

An efficient project communicator should enter

any conversation with a flexible, open mind –
ready to listen and understand the other person’s
point of view, rather than simply getting a point
across.
Feedback and collaboration.

In a collaborative environment, team members

support and encourage each other rather than
focusing solely on their tasks and responsibilities.
They are willing to share information, ideas and
assets to help each other, cooperate and
collaborate to reach the end project.
There are several medias to communicate with
project team.
Such as,
Formal letters
E-mails
Over the phone
Social medias
Within construction stage by using above
communication skills you can successfully
manage the project and keep good
communication in between client and
contractors.
