Overview of Resource Management

• Resources represent activities performed at the

operation.
• You can define resources for all activities that you
plan, schedule, or cost on the shop floor.
• You cannot create resource requirements without
operations.
• Resource requirements are calculated at job
definition from the bill of material.

Overview of Resource Management

You can:
• Assign resource requirements when defining the
routing
• Manually assign resources after job creation
• Determine your critical scheduling path through
resources

Resource Usage Calculations

Resource usage calculations are set in the Resource

Basis field:
• For Item based resources:
Resource requirements = Resource usage rate *
job quantity
• For lot based resources:
Resource requirements = Resource usage rate * 1

Resource Scheduling

Scheduling establishes expected dates and times for

resource requirements. It is based on resource usage
and availability.

Resource Scheduling Setup

Resource scheduling is set in Bills of Material. You can

update the settings in Work in Process:
• Resources that are time based have the Scheduled
attribute set to Yes, Prior, or Next.
• Resources that are not time based, such as kilograms
or gallons, have the Scheduled attribute set to No.

Overlapping Resources

You can schedule resource operations to overlap

operations. This is used for resources operating
currently with:
• Scheduled resources
• Resources at the next operation
• Resources at the prior operation

WIP Scheduling Parameters

WIP Parameters set resource factors in scheduling

calculations:
• Resource Efficiency
• Resource Utilization
• Simulation Sets
