Transformations
Definition:
• Refers to specific ways to manipulate
the shape of a point
• The original image is the pre-image
• The basic types are:
• Translations
• Reflection
• Rotations
Translation
Definition:
• Simply just “moving” or a “slide”
• There object is not
• Resized
• Rotated
• Or anything else
• Every point on the object must move:
• The same distance
• The same direction

Reflection
Definition:
• Think “flip”
• The image is being flip
• Each point of the image is the same
distance from the line as the original
image (pre-image) on the other side of
the line.

Rotation
Definition:
• Making “turns”
• Has a central point that will not change
while everything else does.
• When rotating from a central point the
distance rom the center to any point on
the shape will stay the same.
