Conveyor belts – Aniket bhute

D.K.T.E. Society’s DKTE Center of Excellence in Nonwovens

Textile & Engineering Institute, Ichalkaranji Promoted by Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India
Introduction
Rubber conveyor belts are commonly used to convey items with
irregular bottom surfaces, small items that would fall in between rollers
or bags of product that would sag between rollers.
Conveyors are durable and reliable components used in
automated distribution and warehousing. In combination with
computer-controlled pallet handling equipment this allows for more
efficient retail, wholesale, and manufacturing distribution. It is
considered a labour saving system that allows large volumes to move
rapidly through a process, allowing companies to ship or receive higher
volumes with smaller storage space and with less labour expense.
What is conveyor belt
• a continuous moving band of fabric, rubber, or metal used for
transporting objects from one place to another.
• Conveyor belts are composite material that should be endless in
nature.
• They are either use to transmit motion of power of motor form one
pulley to another.
• Or used as material handling and transportation systems to carry
goods form one place to another.
Market scenario
Global market:
• conveyor belt market size will grow by USD 2.15 billion by 2021
• Growing by 3% day by day.
Domestic market:
• Indian conveyor belt market size is around $250 billion.
• And it is growing day by day.
• India is worlds fastest growing economy in world conveyor market.
Classification
• Flat belt
• V-belt
• Timer belt
Other type of belt:
Raw material

• Rubber
• PVC
• Polyurethane
Manufacturing
• Multifilament yarn of 840D, 1260D, 1680D, 1890D, 2100D and 2500D
• Plain fabric is used as carcass material
• Carcass is made on plain loom

• Jaw holding length: 50mm
• A : 25 mm
• C : 220 mm
• Traverse rate : 100mm/min
Tear propagation test: ISO 505/IS 3181
• Length: 300 mm
• Width : 50 +/-1 mm
• Cut at : 25 mm
• Cut length : 100mm
• Traverse rate: 50 +/-2.5 mm/min

Abrasion testing: ISO 4649

Diameter of sample = 15.5mm to 16.3mm
• speed= 40r/min +/- 1r
• Force = 10n +/- 0.2n
