The practice of dividing a network into two or more (sub) networks for
the purpose of network segmentation
A network can be divided in 2n subnetworks of equal size
* where n = positive integer
Min. = 1
Max. = Suffix Length – 2
The first step is to borrow n bit from the Suffix to the Prefix
Ex.: Divide the network into 2 equally-sized subnetworks
