 Based on the novel Moby Dick written by Herman
Melville, both Captain Ahab and Captain Boomer have been
attacked by Moby Dick. The attack on Captain Ahab causes
him to lose one of his legs while Captain Boomer loses one
of his arms due to the attack by Moby Dick. From the story,
we can see a clear difference between the two captains.
It is noticed that Captain Ahab is a vengeful person.
He went on a quest to kill Moby Dick to take revenge on the
whale for taking one of his legs. Captain Boomer is more
forgiving compared to Captain Ahab. Instead of taking
revenge on Moby Dick he chooses to accept what happen
to him and put this incident behind him and leave Moby
Dick alone.
 Besides that, Captain Ahab is also an irrational captain.
Instead of focussing on the business as whalers, he chooses to
place his attention and time tracking and planning to kill Moby Dick.
On the other hand, Captain Boomer is a rational captain. He
understands that by going after Moby Dick again it will just most
likely lead to the amputation of another body part. Thus, he focused
his attention on his business as a whaler.
Lastly, Captain Ahab is shown to be uncaring towards his
family. He left his wife for 3 years one day after his marriage to go
on his voyage. Contrarily, Captain Boomer cares about his family.
He chooses to avoid confrontation with Moby Dick so that he can
return safely to his family. Besides that, he also works hard as a
whaler to provide for his family.
