Water and Its Properties

Cohesion
Cohesion is the attraction between substances of the
same kind.
Because of cohesion, water forms thin films, and
drops.
Surface Tension
The attraction of water to itself through hydrogen
bonding allows for a condition called surface tension.
Surface tension prevents the surface of water from
stretching or breaking easily.
Adhesion
Adhesion is the attraction between different
substances.
Because of adhesion, things are able to get wet from
water due to water’s attraction to the other substances.
