Water and Its Properties
Water and Its Properties
Cohesion
Cohesion is the attraction between substances of the
same kind.
Because of cohesion, water forms thin films, and
drops.
Surface Tension
The attraction of water to itself through hydrogen
bonding allows for a condition called surface tension.
Surface tension prevents the surface of water from
stretching or breaking easily.
Adhesion
Adhesion is the attraction between different
substances.
Because of adhesion, things are able to get wet from
water due to water’s attraction to the other substances.
