The document describes a rice reaper machine and its testing process. A rice reaper is a machine that cuts and lays rice stalks. It consists of basic parts like an engine, transmission system, transport system, conveying system, cutting knife, and header. The testing process involves collecting initial field data, conducting an actual field test to measure performance metrics like traveling speed and fuel consumption, and analyzing data like potential yield, harvesting losses, field capacity, and efficiency. The goal is to evaluate the machine's performance in harvesting rice.

Initial data before testing It follow PAES: 1. Initial Data - Rice Variety - Moisture Content - Angle of stem inclination - Plant Population (10 samples) - Circumference of stem at cutting height - Tillers/plant (10 samples)
AMTEC, CEAT, UPLB
Initial data before testing - Location of Test - Area to be reaped (m2) - Measure 20m distance between the longest side of the field for travelling speed determinations. - Select randomly three 1x1 m on the field. Manually harvest and thresh, get the weight and compute that as a Potential yield
AMTEC, CEAT, UPLB
Initial data before testing - Randomly mark three 1x1 m in the field then pick and collect the grains that initially fall before reaping (pre-harvest loss). After reaping pick and collect again the grains that fell (header loss). - Spread 2m canvass on a place where cut stalks are expected to fall. Collect the grains that fell on the canvass and record that as conveying loss. - AMTEC, CEAT, UPLB Actual Field Test 1. Prepare the machine 2. Fill the fuel tank at its capacity 3. Two persons will get forward speed. One each at the two ends of the 20m distance. Get the time that the machine cross the 20m distance.
AMTEC, CEAT, UPLB
Actual Field Test 4. Field Pattern. Determine the best field pattern. 5. Fuel time. As soon as the engine started start the time and stop when the engine stop operation after the test. 6. Once reaping started start the reaping time. 7. During operation record the following: - Turning time - Noise Level at 50mm away from the ears of the operator. AMTEC, CEAT, UPLB Actual Field test 8. Traveling Speed (10 samples) 9. When the reaping is finished stop the reaping time and record. 10. When the engine stopped, the fuel time shall be stopped and record it as fuel time. 11. Get the fuel consumed using a graduated cylinder. 12. Measure the height of cut or stubbles that was left after reaping. AMTEC, CEAT, UPLB Data Analysis/Computation 1. Potential yield Get the average harvest of the three 1x1 m initially done. = (A + B+ C)/3 = kg/m² multiply to the area harvested = Total kg – Potential yield
AMTEC, CEAT, UPLB
Data Analysis/Computation 2. Pre-harvest loss Get the weight of the grains that was picked before harvesting. 3. Header loss Get the weight of the grains that was picked after harvesting. These are the grains that fell due to machine operation. 4. Net Header loss = Header loss – pre-harvest loss AMTEC, CEAT, UPLB Data Analysis/Computation 4. Conveying loss These are the grains that fell into the ground as a result of conveying and binding it to the ground. It was determine by getting the amount of grains per area of 1.2 m by 2m.
AMTEC, CEAT, UPLB
Data Analysis/Computation 5. Actual Field Capacity It is the area harvested per unit of time. AFC = Area/time of harvesting 6. Theoretical Field Capacity It is the field capacity less all losses TFC = Cutting Width of machine x Forward speed
AMTEC, CEAT, UPLB
Data Analysis/Computation 7. Field Efficiency It tells us how good the machine is, but also it has factor such as operator. FE = Actual Field Capacity x 100 Theoretical Field Capacity 8. Fuel Consumption = Amount of fuel consumed (ml)/fuel time.
