Meaning of Alliance

 A formal agreement establishing an


association or alliance between nations or
other groups to achieve a particular aim is
called alliance.
 A union or association form for mutual
benefit.
Definition-

 A business alliance is an agreement between


businesses, usually motivated by cost reduction
and improved service for the customer. Alliances
are often bounded by a single agreement with
equitable risk and opportunity share for all parties
involved and are typically managed by an
integrated project team. An example of this is 
code sharing in airline alliances.

Example-

 Code sharing or codeshare is an aviation


 business term for the practice of multiple
airlines selling space on the same flights,
where a seat can be purchased on one
airline but is actually operated by a
cooperating airline under a different flight
number or code.

 Sales alliance
 Solution specific alliance
 Geographic alliance
 Investment alliance
 Joint venture alliance
 Sales alliance: In this alliance both will
make complementary and both will sales.

 Big FM has announced that it has entered
into a strategic alliance with Radio Dhamaal
and Rangila FM. The alliance is aimed
towards expanding its network and also
providing advertisers deeper penetration into
key markets.
 Big FM with 45 stations of its own across
India through this alliance will further
increase its reach and footprint across India
through alliances with Radio Dhamaal and
Rangila FM, thus allowing Big FM sales team
to offer advertisers the opportunity to reach
52 cities across India.
 Similarly, Radio Dhamaal and Rangila FM
are said to get advertisers through Big FM
network and reach.

when two companies agree to jointly develop

Cisco. Bharti Airtel brings strengths of market leadership and
product expertise in network connectivity for large enterprises
and small and medium-sized businesses , in addition to
strong distribution and a network of systems integration
partners. Cisco brings value through its IP-based capabilities,
strengths in next-generation network solutions, and enterprise
and SMB channels. The unique products and services offered
by this alliance will incorporate Cisco technology with the
Airtel network to target the Indian managed services market.
Product & services offered

 This alliance will incorporate Cisco technology with


Airtel newtwork to target the growing Indian market.
The companies will jointly develop or co-create
unique products for Indian enterprises including
the small & medium sized business (SMB)
segment.  The alliance will offer four major product
portfolio comprising managed data service, hosted
unified communications, connected branch services
and Cisco telepresence.
 Geographic alliance: It occurs when two
companies agree to jointly market or co
brands there product and services in an
specific geographical region.
Renesas Electronics to acquire Nokia’s wireless
modem business; companies to form strategic business
alliance for modem technology development

 As part of this alliance, the companies have


entered into an agreement whereby
Renesas Electronics is to acquire
Nokia’s wireless modem business for
approximately USD 200 million. The alliance
is planned to be enhanced by long-term joint
research cooperation on future radio
technologies.
 Investment alliance: it occurs when both
companies agree to joint there funds for
mutual investment.
