Introduction
The national goals and directive principles of the
constitution are important instruments, in that
they clearly chart out the course, and map out
direction Papua New Guinea would take.
Humans (citizens) are considered to be extremely
important . Any developments and activities
that concern the state should have people at
heart, equality and participation of all in
developments of the country.

Introduction
• National goals and directive principles also provides
for national sovereignty and self-reliance, which are
fundamental to the development of the country.
• It also speaks for the use and preservation of the
natural environment and resources in collective
manner, while also being responsive for future
needs.
• Importantly, the final national goal and directive
principle encompasses the use of PNG way to
achieve desired development needs.

The aim of this lecture is to introduce
to students, the five national goals
and directive principles, and to draw
from the goals the wisdom that
guides countries development, as it
is holistic in its orientations.
