360° of Expunging

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Chalkboards are a long term used item often found
in both clasroom and at home. It is way of displaying
art, memos, information, lectures and even designs.
Generally, it is used for teaching purpose that makes it
the most common and basic thing in a classroom,
ofcourse, blackboards or chalkboards come with
clothings of felt used to erase writings of chalk, it is
called "eraser".
Before felt erasers came into the scene, rags and
old cloths were used to erase writings on chalkboards
at offices, schools and mostly everywhere.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
John L. Hammett, the creator of chalkboards
and erasers made a big contribution to help teachers
show the information on large planks of boards.
Accordingly, chalk dust can be inhaled by people and
can affect people and gadgets. Also it takes time for
a normal eraser to clean meters of blackboard in
using it makes our hand full of chalk.
PROBLEMS
Blackboards are generally used for teaching
purpose in a classroom. The powders obtain from
the chalk piece while erasing the blackboard causes
problem to the respiratory organ when inhaled by
humans. Those who have allergy in chalk dust
cannot erase nor sit near the blackboard. Also chalk
dust can cause hair loss, burning of eyes, asthma,
etc...Commonly, teachers are the one who's
responsible in erasing the blackboard while taking
classes which is time consuming. Moreover chalk
dust not only harm the human but also the
machines, gadgets or anything that is powered by
technology when exposed on it, there could be a
heat production.
OBJECTIVES
The general aim of the researchers is to
provide an eraser that is improved and will fit in
the current world where technology is used and
the specific objectives are the following; avoid
inhaling dangerous chalk dusts and speed up
the consumed time when expunging.
HYPOTHESIS
There is no significant effect if the erasers will
successfully expunge the writings on the board as
the spinning will stop as long as the erasers touch
the board. This research will define whether the
researchers will make a revolution in long-time up
and downs and side by side of erasing or will make
a solution to the dangers caused by chalk dusts
not only to objects, but also to people who are
given the task of erasing, even if the eraser is not
eco-friendly.
SIGNIFICANCE
This innovation relates to a chalkboard
eraser and more specifically to an improved
chalk board eraser which can automatically
erase the chalk writings, wherein there is a
rotating speed. Using the friction effect
generated on the erasers and the board, the
blackboard may be better erased.
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Scientists concluded that chalks and
chalkboards are being replaced by
whiteboards and more modern but less
dusty technology. Yet chalkboards still
enjoys wide usage in many countries
(Abrahams, 2011).
METHODOLOGY
The researchers used a twenty-nine inches wooden
stick as the main body or the handle of the eraser. The
recycled erasers had cut into pieces a whole twenty by
twenty-eight plywood as support and it was placed on the
top of a blender dynamo that works in two hundred twenty
volts (which is on top of the handle) that will make it spin or
rotate in 360°. The blender dynamo is inside a blender
case to avoid people from getting in danger. It is then
connected to a switch that will turn the “360° Expunger” on
and off. The researchers attached the wooden stick to the
blender dynamo, had put a 4by 4 inches plywood as the
connector of the two item and also as a stand of the
dynamo. The researchers connect the wire from the switch
to the dynamo and put the blender case as a protection
and as the end, they place the erasers over the blender
dynamo with the blender case.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
It resulted from the researchers’ experiment
that the enough distance needed to avoid chalk
dusts were provided.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Both the arguments for distinctness of this

eraser were supported: the shortening of
consumed time when erasing and the spread of
chalk dusts that may seem harmless but will kill
you softly. It was made to fill the existing gaps of a
traditional eraser. This long electric blackboard
eraser has been proposed which has solved the
defect of cleaning chalk dust, but it is not
economically helpful because of heavy equipment
and energy requirement and is not popular.
