to submit photos and writings. You can find it on the school website

Reminders
We love it when parents and grandparents come to enjoy lunch with our class. We would
appreciate knowing your plans to have lunch with your student the morning of your visit.
We submit a lunch count every morning to help the kitchen staff as they prepare the food
for the day. They like to have plenty of food for everyone.

Reminder
Wednesday the 31st is our class Halloween party (2:30). Thank you to the
following parents who volunteered to provide for the party:
Janette Haen, Andrea Elliot, and Jennifer Holland– snacks Christina
Black – paperware. If someone else would provide drinks, that would be
appreciated.
We want to say “Thank you” for all the items you’ve provided that your student
brought for the Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. There are still a few days to
send a small item if you can. Packing Day will be a thrill on the 9th! The students are
so excited to write notes to the children receiving the gifts. When we discover where
the boxes are delivered, we’ll have a Google Earth lesson. The 1st grade students hope
to fill many shoeboxes!!!

We discovered today that all 13 shoeboxes that we, the 1st grade,
filled and packed for Operation Christmas Child have been sent to
Mexico!! We will set out on a Google Earth adventure to see just
where Mexico is in relation to Mound City, Kansas.
Reminders:
The 1st and 2nd grade Christmas program is Monday, Dec. 1 1th.
Please arrive by 6:30-6:45 in our classroom.
Our class Christmas party is Friday, Dec. 15 at 2:45. There is no
school after the 15th until Wednesday, Jan. 3rd.

I want to thank you for the help you provide your student at home
with their sight words, math and reading homework, and practice
for their weekly spelling test. It’s incredible!
I appreciate how we can partner together to make your child the
best student they can be.
Reminders:
Please help your student dress for cold weather. This
includes a warm coat, hat, and gloves or mittens. We will try
to play outside during recess as often as the weather and
temperatures allow.

Thank you, parents, for the help you provide every week night
with your student’s homework. Your assistance with their sight
words, reading, spelling word practice, and math is appreciated
very much. When we work together, your child is the best student
they can be.
Easter was our last class party for the school year. This is a great
moment to say “thank you” to all the moms, dads, grandmas, and
grandpas that have brought snacks for the class and enjoyed the
parties with us.
As we explore reading,
Math instruction for April language, and spelling this
includes learning about month we will discover how to
geometry. Your student will write opinion sentences, use
learn to identify and sort plane exclamations, adverbs of time,
shapes based on their present progressive verbs, and
attributes. Your child will also adjectives that compare. We
learn about solid objects and will also be working on vowel
their properties. digraph spelling patterns such
as ew, oo, and ou.

Your students are very excited to share their work with you through
Seesaw. Thank you for the wonderful feedback that you provide your
child.

Families are invited to our “Fun Awards” ceremony the last day of
school. Every student will receive a special award that is unique to
them. We plan to have the award time at 3 o’clock on Thursday,
May 25th. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

concepts from Kindergarten such as
letter sounds, consonant-vowel-
consonant words, and number sense
up to 10. Setting expectations for
behavior is essential these first few
days of school and getting to know
each other is important as well. The
classroom is our school family and we
can learn to have mutual love and
respect for each other.
