Introduction
• NATO- North Atlantic Treaty Organization,
consist of 28 countries.
• Formed in 1949
Main countries who are in NATO
• United States
• Great Britain
• Germany
• Italy
• Belgium
• France
• Switzerland
• Denmark
Main military divisions of NATO
• Land
– Infantry and Calvary.
NATO Infantry
• When ever NATO enters a conflict its usually
never just by one country. It’s a group of
countries giving support to one whole group.
Various troops from differing units in their
home country end up fighting for NATO as a
whole.
• The regional commander for these
collaborating units also might be from a
different country.
Calvary
• The tanks in NATO differ because different
countries have different Main Battle Tanks.
• All tactics used by them are similar they are
fast hard hitting maneuvers like shoot and
scoot.
NATO Air Force
• Since most of
the aircraft are
from European
countries their
aircraft vary
greatly from
ours but consist
of fighters,
bombers , and
awacs aircraft.
NATO Air Force Tactics
• The tactics of NATO aircraft are very different
than what just the U.S is used too. Instead of
relying on huge airfields and bases they can if
necessary operate off landing strips on roads.
Overall Tactics of NATO forces

• Overall NATO was formed as a precautionary


or a buffer to Soviet advancements. Over the
years its main job was prepare all nations that
border the Soviet Union a sense of protection
and to defend the country and the people
who live in it.
Introduction
• Soviet Union- Created in 1917 after the
Russian revolution several countries joined the
mainland Russia forming several Soviet
Republics.

• Land
Infantry and Calvary
Infantry

• The soviet infantry is made up of Units or


gruppa . These gruppas can be then divided
into groups like artillery, special operations or
spetsnaz or command.
Calvary
• Main role of the soviet Calvary is helicopter
and tanks. During WWII the soviet war
machine produced so many T-34 tanks that
they outnumbered German tiger tanks and
won the major battle of Kursk.
Air force

• The Soviet air force has


been one of the worlds
largest air force . The
main goal of the soviet
air force is to hold a
large air space and
hold for however long
no matter the price.
Soviet Aircraft Design
• Many of the early Soviet aircraft were crude
but durable. As time progressed they got
better at designing planes making some very
unusual but useful aircraft.
Overall tactics of the Soviet Military

• The overall the goal was to spread their belief


o communism to the world and no one or
nothing could stop them. They wouldn’t stop
for anyone including their own. The Soviets
tried to go to battle with the mentality of no
matter the cost of life they had to win.
