• Safety Colour and Safety Signs plays an


important role in preventing Workplace
Hazards.

• IS 9457-2005 prescribes the safety


identification colours and design
principles for safety signs to be used in
workplace.

IMPORTANT TERMINOLOGY.

1. Safety Colour:-
Colour of special property to which meaning is
attributed.

2. Safety Marking:-
Marking which adopt the use of safety colours and/or
safety contrast colours to convey a safety message or
render object or location conspicuous.

3. Safety Signs
Signs which gives a general safety message, obtained
by combination of colour and geometric shape and
which by addition of graphical symbol gives a particular
safety message.
