Rake angle

 the ability of a motorcycle to steer

 how fast or slow the motorcycle can take turns

rake angle , effort to turn , stability at high speeds

- helps maintain a straight course -

Trail
 tire contact patch area
(part of the tire which remains in contact with the road)
 depends on the rake angle

trail , straight line stability , lateral force generated

- while cornering or turn -
Steering Offset
 distance between a line drawn through the centerline of the
steering stem/ headstock axis and the centerline of the front
fork tubes

offset, trail.
Triple clamps
 increase offset for both triple clamps, trail decreases.
 offset (top triple clamp) increase, trail will increase.
 offset (bottom triple clamp) increase, trail will decrease.

Front fork
 Shorter fork tubes decrease rake and trail.

Rear suspension
 Lowering will effectively increase rake and trail.

Spring preload adjustments

 change ride height to fine tune handling via rake and trail changes.

Wheel diameter
 smaller diameter front wheel/tire assembly will decrease rake and
trail.
 smaller rear wheel/tire assembly will increase rake and trail.

Aftermarket triple clamps

 alter offset; it's possible to change trail without affecting rake.
