Examples of Short and Long Term

 Left Image: Is an example of a common reaction to short term stress. It is usually a

mental phase which is an alertness and you’ll tend to freak out and be unable to focus.
 Right Image: Is an example of a common reaction to long term stress. It is usually a
physical phase and will cause some sort of discomfort. If not stopped, could worsen.
Short Term: Serious, Minor, & Everything in between

Things like cold hands and feet, dry mouth, fast heart beating, headaches and so on are not so
serious things that I’m sure we’ve all experienced. These things are common and usually its
nothing to worry about but always take care of your body.

Things like depression, outbursts of anger, and difficulty in concentrating are more serious. Think
about it, this but not affect you physically but it will mentally. Its going to throw you off your
game. When depressed you tend to ignore the things around you and if goes on, you’ll lose a
lot of things you hold dear to. Outbursts of anger will create conflict which give you more
things to deal with and more stress for your body on top of what you already have. Difficulty
concentrating will hold you back in school and bring your grades down. Odds are, you are
going to stress out and do everything you can to catch up which will bring you even

Things like memory disturbances, loss of appetite, urge to urinate, sweating excessively, and
diarrhea are serious. These are not normal to get due to stress and isn't easy to get rid of.
Long Term: Serious, Minor, & Everything in between

Things like… well there really is not minor issues because they can be and are pretty serious.

Things like body aches, head aches, chest pain and irregular heartbeat, change in appetite, chronic
fatigue, suppression, hair loss, high blood pressure, heart attack, Increase or decrease in
weight, Insomnia Sexual disorder, and skin problems all sounds pretty serious right? Well yea
your right. Half of these can kill and the other half is just plain scary and uncomfortable.

Body aches, head aches, chest pain and irregular heartbeat, change in appetite, chronic fatigue,
suppression are not that bad and we tend to ignore them think they’ll pass away.

Hair loss, high blood pressure, heart attack, Increase or decrease in weight, Insomnia, and skin
problems are really deadly/embarrassing. All of this should be monitored and taken really
seriously.
How you would relieve certain things.

 Things like loss of appetite and cold or warm hands

aren’t really hard to get rid of.
Physical Therapy
What would you do if you are stressed? Well, massages are a good way to relieve it.
Massage is the manipulation of superficial layers of muscle and connective tissue to
enhance the function and promote relaxation and well-being. Also, thinks like
Yoga, and Tai Chi are really good ways to relax.

-Things like creams and ointment are ways to get away rashes.
-Things like back pains and headaches, there are medicines you can take.
-For things like sweating, you could always keep cool and relax but make sure you
drink a lot of fluids to keep hydrated.
-Same applies for heart beats.
Mental Therapy
Mental stress are usually caused by issues you are having with someone. The best way
to relieve that sort of thing is to fix the issue with that person. How do you do that?
I would say you should talk to someone that you seriously trust, vent out all you
have stored up. Figure out all your problems and confront it with that person.

Things like Difficulty in concentrating are usually signs of stress. It is due to lack of
sleep.
Anger, sadness, worrying, anxiety, and etc are common responses when you are stress.
You’ll tend to back out and really is not a big deal just snap out of it and pull
yourself together.
Burnouts usually make you feel disillusioned, helpless, and completely worn out.
Burnouts are usually why you feel so bad when stressed out. The smart thing to do
is get plenty of rest and just make sure you relax.
Seeking Help
A lot of time, most people do not find help because they are too embarrassed or too
sometimes they don’t think they need the help. Well, if you can’t do this alone,
why not get someone who you can trust to help? When stress build up for too long,
when your bottled up too long, chances are, your going to blow. Most people think
the only way out is ending their lives but that’s not true. There’s always another
way out.
Ask a friend, teacher, adult, whatever! Just find someone who you can talk to and get it
all out because if you don’t all that stress can lead to more then blowing up.
How you can prevent stress
Exercising
 Exercising is a great way to let all that anger out, have something to take your mind
off of something you do not want to think about, or maybe just to have some fun.
 Maybe you can take the rage out and tackle someone in football
 Feel accomplished and beat someone in a race to build some self esteem
 Weight lift to build some feel tired and sore and help you relax a bit
 The thought of this is endless, just get up and do something and I can guarantee you
that you’ll feel a million times better
Distractions
 Distractions have both pros and cons.
 Distractions can temporally get your mind off of a problem you are facing and just
live a normal life for a while but its always best to confront your issue of its going
to come back and bite you in the butt.
 A lot of times distractions are well… distractions. It can mis-lead you can you’ll
miss some things that are going on.
 Depending on what do you distractions could help you or ruin you.
Let some steam out
 It is always a good idea to let the steam out because if it builds up it causes a lot of
damage to your body. If too much, it could blow. Think of it this way, you have a
bottle and its pressurized with air. What’s going to happen to the bottle? It blows.
 All you really have to do is find things that you can do to take your mind off of
things, to let anger out, to have fun
 You can use that steam to find a hobby or maybe use it toward your hobby and
work harder.
 ( I just realized that all three slides have so much in common)
 So what did we learn today?
 Stress can build up and work In the nastiest ways possible
 Its always good to relax and avoid being stressed out
 Being stressed to long is extremely harmful to the body
 Always let steam out to relieve stress
 Never stayed bottled up and always ask for help if needed!
