PARABOLA - is defined as a conic whose

eccentricity is equal to 1. This conic has its

distance from the vertex to a fixed point (
called the focus), equal to its equal to its
distance from the vertex to a fixed line
called the directrix ).
Parabola – set of points in a plane that are equidistant
from a fixed point (d(F, P)) and a fixed line (d (P, D)).
Focus - the fixed point of a parabola.
Directrix - the fixed line of a parabola. Axis of Symmetry

Axis of Symmetry – The line that Focus

goes through the focus and is Latus Rectum
perpendicular to the directrix.
Vertex – the point of intersection of
the axis of symmetry and the
parabola.
Latus Rectum – the line segment
through the focus and parallel to the Vertex Directrix
directrix.
