DEFINITION

 Procedure text is a text which show how to do and how to make

something through a sequence of steps
 The purpose of procedure text is to guide and to direct the reader about
how to do or how to make
GENERIC STRUCTURE

 AIM/GOAL (how to make Potato Chips)

 MATERIALS (ingredients : potato, onions, etc)
 STEPS (first, cut the potato into small layers)
CHARACTERISTICS

 Use the imperative sentence (cut it into pieces, don’t mix, heat it for 5
minutes, etc)
 Use the action verbs (crack, chop, break, etc)
 Use the sequnce adverbs (first, second, next, then, etc)
 Use the adverbials ( for one hours, for 4 minutes, into the bowl, etc)
EXAMPLE : How to Make Fried Rice

 Ingredients

2 cloves of garlic

2 onions

An egg

1 table spoon of vegetable oil

A plate of rice

Salt

 Steps

first, chop garlic and onions into small pieces

second, heat vegetable oil on a frying pan

third, put the chopped garlic and onion into the hot vegetable oil. Fry them a while

fourth, add an egg into the pan and stir them

fifth, put one plate of rice. Fry and mix them around 3 minutes

sixth, add two pinces of salt. Continue frying until the rice is mixed perfectly

finally, put the fried rice on a plate. Fried rice ready to serve.
