• Almost all myocardial infarctions involve the

left ventricle.
• This should not be surprising because the left
ventricle is the most
• muscular chamber and is called on to do the
most work. It is
• therefore most vulnerable to a compromised
blood supply.
• In normal hearts, the amplitude of the R
waves should increase at least 1 m V per lead
• as you progress from Vl to V4 (and often VS) .
This pattern may vanish with anterior
infarction, and the result is called poor R wave
• progression.
