DIC
• District Industries Centre has been set up under Central Plan for industrial
growth in the district.
• The main aims & objectives of the organization is to promote Industrial &
Service activities of MSME & its monitoring work in this district.
• maintenance of existing industrial units are being taken up, it also
monitor & promote the Handicraft & Artisans sector in this District.
• The District Industries Centre is functioning mainly with the aim of
promoting, facilitating and developing industrial growth in the territory.
• It is the nodal agency for overall industrial growth in the district to
develop and promote Cottage and Small Scale Industries in the district.
• The Small Scale Industries (SSI) means the Industries with investment up
to Rs 1 (one) Crores in plant & machinery.

AND EDP PROGRAMME
• District Industries Centre (DIC) scheme was introduced under
Industrial Policy of 1977. Under this scheme, each District
shall have a DIC
• for development of small scale and cottage industries
• provide all the services and facilities to the entrepreneurs at
one place for setting up small scale and rural industries.
• identification of a suitable scheme, preparation of feasibility
report, arrangements for supply of machinery and equipment,
provision of raw materials, credit facilities etc.

Functions of DIC
• It provides Training through Entrepreneurship Development Programme,
• conducts skills development & managerial capability improvement
programmes, workshop and seminars in collaboration with SISI and
NABARD.
• They conduct industrial potential survey keeping in view the availability of
resources.
• implementation of various schemes of central and state governments.
• They appraise the worthiness of various proposals of the entrepreneurs
to establish new units, guide them in choosing suitable machinery,
equipment and raw materials.
• To prepare and keep model project profiles for reference of the
entrepreneurs,
• To prepare action plan to implement the schemes effectively already
identified,

• To undertake industrial potential survey and to identify the types of feasible
ventures which can be taken up in ISB sector, i.e., industrial sector, service
sector and business sector,
• To guide entrepreneurs in matters relating to selecting the most appropriate
machinery and equipment, sources of it supply and procedure for importing
machineries,
• To provide guidance for appropriate loan amount and documentation,
• To assist entrepreneurs for availing land and shed equipment and tools,
furniture and fixtures,
• To appraise the worthiness of the project-proposals received from
entrepreneurs,
• To help the entrepreneurs in obtaining required licenses/permits/clearance,
• To assist the entrepreneurs in marketing their products and assess the
possibilities of ancillarisation,
• To conduct product development work appropriate to small industry,

• To help the entrepreneurs in clarifying their doubts about the matters of
operation of bank accounts, submission of monthly, quarterly and annual
returns to government departments,
• To conduct artisan training programme,
• To act as the nodal agency for the district for implementing PMRY (Prime
Minister Rojgar Yojna),
• To function as the technical consultant of District Rural Development Agency
(DRDA) in administering, Integrated Rural Development Programme (IRDP)
IRDP and TRYSEM programme, and
• To help the specialized training organizations to conduct Entrepreneur
development programmes.
• DIC, in co-ordination with the participating banks in their respective areas,
formulates the self-employment plans, implements under the guidance and
supervision of the District PMRY Committee.
• DIC is responsible for formulating location-specific plans based on realistic
demand assessment of activities. The District PMRY

• 1. Training unemployed youth in basic skills to enable them to
take up self employment and other jobs in industrial units.
• 2. Training in Handicrafts is imparted to unemployed youth.
• 3. Training in Coir works are given to village youths.
• 4. The PMRY scheme was implemented in this region since
1993 onwards. Selected beneficiaries are given financial
assistance through banks.
