WITH BARRIER RESTRICTION

Outline

• Introduction
• Need for the System
• Objective
• Operational Definition
• Hypothesis
• Material and Methods
Introduction
• Project will Focus on simplified analysis method to predict the
effects of overload vehicles.
• With the rapid development of current logistics industry, the
question of transport vehicles overloading is becoming more
and more serious.
• Overloaded vehicles will cause extensive damage to the road.
• Huge economic losses to society, which seriously threaten
traffic safety.
• Overloaded Vehicles also causes Damage to the Bridges and
hence reduces their lifetime.
Need For the System

• Transport vehicles overloading is becoming more and more

serious issue.
• 70% of traffic accidents are caused by vehicles overloading.
• Cause extensive damage to the road.
• Seriously threaten traffic safety.
• Become one of the crucial issues of traffic management.
• Traditional static weighing system takes a long time and
affects the normal traffic.
• Small measuring speed range and the large system.
• Inconvenient for installation and maintenance.
OBJECTIVES

• To Categorize the loaded vehicles according to the total

weight.
• Increase Safety on the roads
• The overload vehicles are also very dangerous for other motor
vehicles
• The overloaded vehicle driving is illegal.
• Helpful in Traffic Management.
Further Possible development
Possible:-
• Can be further extended and Simulated on Matlab
• Can help in categorization with the help of vibration
sensor.
• Raspberry Pi can be can be used as a data collecting
equipment.
• Signal conditioning board can be used to further
filter and identify the vibration signals.
• With the Evaluation Amplitude of vibration signals,
categorization can be done
COMPONENTS REQUIRED
• BATTERY 6V
• DC MOTOR
• BUZZER
• LED LIGHT
• PCB BOARD
• ON & OFF SWITCHS
• OVER LOAD SENSOR
• MEASURING WEIGHT METER
• WIRES
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM
WORKING PRINCIPLE :-
• The over load vehicle detector with barrier restriction is based
on the principle to detect the overload vehicles passing from
the bridge to stop them and provide the safety to personnel
and bridge and thus increase the life of the bridge

CONSTRUCTION:-
• In this 6-volt battery is connected in parallel with DC motor
and from one side of the motor is connected with buzzer
• and the other side of the motor is connected with load sensor.
• And the motor is connected with the rotating disc (the
measuring scale which show the load weight).
• The buzzer is next connected with another second motor and
the second motor is connected with load sensor and thus
complete the circuit.
WORKING PROCEDURE:-

• When the over load vehicle is pass from the bridge so that the
overload gap between the load sensor get decrease.
• As then the load cap come in contact the circuit get
completed.
• The load sensor detects the heavy load vehicle going from the
bridge.
• And as the motor 1 get operates and the disc starts rotating so
that the measuring scale show the load weight and the
overload vehicle gets stopped. In this way overload vehicle
Detector with barrier restriction works. And then suddenly
the barrier gets shut down with the help of second motor.
APPLICATIONS:-
• Transportation / Carriage charges: Checking cost of transportation by weighing
shipments prior to loading, using a hanging crane load cell.

• Avoiding truck overload fines by weighing the loaded goods with hanging scales.

• Preventing potential wastage or damage caused by excess molten material in

foundry ladles, by using a casting / foundry hanging crane scale for hot
temperature work.

• A wireless hanging crane scale with radio transmitter (radio link) is especially
suitable for high temperature applications

• Using hoist hanging scales for weighing loads in real time during manufacturing
processes while lifting, where loads were previously sent to truck scales.

• Weighing parts using low headroom industrial crane scales, by either telemetry or
cable, for stock control and advanced stock management.

• Shipbuilding: each section is weighed by a shipyard hanging crane scale during

assembly, and thus the total weight of the vessel is known on completion. Elion’s
watertight and dust sealed crane scales are especially suitable for this application
SAFETY ASSESSMENT/ADVANTAGES:-
• Similar to bridge structural assessment, bridge safety assessments
consider the load carrying capacity of a structure with a focus on specific
loading conditions rather than overall loading.

• Most often, safety assessments are used as part of the permit review
process for oversize/overweight (OS/OW) movements to verify the safety
of bridges along the permitted vehicle’s intended route.

• Bridge safety assessments use the permit vehicle as the live load reference
effectively eliminating any uncertainty related to loading.

• In France and Slovenia, calibrated influence lines derived from bridge WIM
systems are routinely used to calculate the safety of a particular bridge
under OS/OW loading using the vehicle’s exact axle loading and axle
spacing.

• If the permitted vehicle loading approaches the load carrying capacity of

the structure, additional constraints may be imposed that require the
permitted vehicle’s driver to control speed, braking, and/or acceleration to
limit dynamic impacts to the bridge.
FUTURE SCOPE:-
• The model was developed on a stationary engine and tested on the
passenger car. This can be implemented in real time system using an
embedded hardware and tested under diverse operating condition of the
vehicle.
• The use of various other feature transforms like singular value
decomposition, latent semantic analysis, independent component analysis
and another kernel based PCA and kernel based independent component
analysis could be attempted.
• The model was implemented in a three-cylinder passenger car only, it
could be used in vehicles with higher number of cylinders and misfire
could be evaluated at higher speeds above 100 Kmph.
• The use of fractals, tetrolates and curvelets based features could be
analyzed for use in developing the model. The use of diverse families of
continuous wavelet transforms and wavelet packet transforms for feature
extraction could be evaluated.
• Innovative formulations of features and feature fusion techniques can be
attempted.
• The use of compressed sensing techniques to reduce the information load
at the acquisition point below the Nyquist criterion is an attractive
direction of research.
CONCLUSION:-
• The project will Help in Categorization of Loaded Vehicles

• As we all know that Bridge is very sensitive construction when it is

overloaded or over load vehicle passed from the bridge it gets damage to
both bridge and personnel too. So, to avoid this problem or consequence
we made this project.

• So that when overloaded vehicle passed from the bridge we detect it by

overloaded actor it shows the load weight in the measuring scale when it
is out of the medium load the buzzer starts and instantly the barrier shut
down and we stopped at over load vehicle.

• In this way this model works and we avoid this overload problem or
condition.

• Thus we all have studied this project by knowing all its advantages,
application, working mechanism, future scopes.
