The rationale behind the topic:

• The chosen topic is very controversial and to the some extent


even provoking. Someone believes in superstitions, someone
considers them to be just ridiculous stuff. Thus, the teacher
expects the pupils to be very active in evaluation, appreciation of
the material and especially in expressing their opinions in
homework.
• The chosen topic is beloved by teenagers. It’s not a secret that an
old movie “Friday, 13” is very popular among them even in our
days. The “easiness” of the topic and a lot of fun activities (such
as trivia, a song, a funny picture) will hopefully create an
atmosphere of interest.
• There are a lot of sources in Internet where pupils can extract
necessary information for individual home tasks on the topic.

Lesson Plan
Why technology?
• Technology provides a key element of flexibility, interest and
information variety. Access to Internet provides us with ever up-dated
information. It guarantees us high speed of extracting relevant
information. A technology based lesson gives pupils opportunity to
perform it at home and from any place they will choose.
Class organization:
• All lessons are for an individual work.
Pre-computer activities:
• Pupils will be asked to write a small essay “My lucky/unlucky number”
. It is an introduction to the topic that will help them later on to
understand the nature of our irrational beliefs.
Post –computer activities:
• Writing a quiz or a big essay – “Believe or not to believe?” (In the
essay they should give their opinion if there is the any rationale
behind superstitions. All written should be based on the information
learnt during the lessons and on their personal experience”).
Discussion and feedback in class.
