PRESTRAT-UP CHECKS OF BOILER LIGHT UP

 Work permit on various boiler areas such as


Furnace, APH, ID fans, ESP Ducts, Dampers etc.,
canceled/returned and men, material removed from
these areas.

 All Safety Valves are free to float.


 Local/ remote instruments isolating valves are
opened.
 Check all the soot-blowers are in retracted
condition.
 Check the Instrument and Service air pressure is
sufficient for boiler area.

 Check the Bottom Ash equipment available for taking it


in service.
 Trough Seal chamber & bottom ash hopper are
overflowing.
 Boiler manholes, peepholes are in closed
condition.
 Boiler Drum vent valves and steam side all drains &
vents are open.
 Master drain valve to IBD tank must be closed.

 Boiler drain header inlet valves from ring header drain


must be opened.

 Open the Economiser & boiler filling line
v/v.
 Ensure Economiser inlet v/v is operative by opening/
closing the valve and checking the feedback and keep the
v/v in closed condition.
 Open the Economiser vent valves.
 Ensure the Intermittent Boiler blow-down valve are
operative by opening/ closing the valve and checking the
feedback and kept the v/v in closed
condition.
 Ensure the Emergency drum drain valve are operative by
opening/ closing the valve and check the feedback and
kept the v/v in closed condition.
 Ensure the Continuous blowdown (CBD) valve are
operative by opening/ closing the valve and check the
feedback in and kept the v/v in closed condition.

 CLOSE THE SH FILLING LINE V/V

 START-UP VENT V/V IS


OPEN
 CLOSE THE STEAM LINE V/V FOR SOOT-BLOWING & THE
MOTORISED V/V .
 OPEN THE HRH & CRH VENT VALVES (R1-4) AND DRAIN
V/VS.
 ENSURE THE DESH ATTEMPERATION ISOLATING VALVES ARE
CLOSED.
 ENSURE THE RH ATTEMPERATION ISOLATING VALVES ARE
CLOSED.

 CHECK DRUM LEVEL INDICATORS ARE IN ZERO (-512 MM OF


WCL) POSITION PUT THE LOCAL GAUGE GLASS IN
SERVICE.
 CHECK THE HYDRASTEP LEVEL INDICATOR- ALL RED.
 ACW, CW AND DMCW PUMPS ARE RUNNING.
 ALL ASH HOPPERS ARE CLEAN.
 SUFFICIENT LDO / HFO IS AVAILABLE IN LDO / HFO STORAGE
TANKS.
 FUEL OIL PUMP IS RUNNING ON RECIRCULATION.
 CHECK GENERATOR SEAL IS ESTABLISHED AND TURBINE IS
RUNNING ON BARRING GEAR.

LOCAL CHECKS:
1. ELECTRICAL LOCAL LOCK OUT SWITCH POSITION
2. LUB OIL TANK LEVEL
3. LUB OIL PUMP RUNNING / STOP CONDITION
4. LUB OIL COOLER IN SERVICE / OUT OF SERVICE
5. LUB OIL STRAINER POSITION
6. WORKING OIL COOLER POSITION
7. SUCTION / DISCHARGE VALVES / DAMPERS POSITION
8. LOADING SYSTEM THAT IS SCOOP / BLADE PITCH POSITION
9. TANK / SUMP LEVEL NORMAL
SHUTDOWN:

SHUT DOWN PROCEDURE FOR ANY EQUIPMENT OR SYSTEM IS


TO REDUCE LOADING TO MINIMUM AND THEN SWITCH OFF THE
EQUIPMENT / SYSTEM. THIS IS DESIRED TO STOP THE
EQUIPMENT FOLLOWING NORMAL OPERATING PROCEDURE. IT
IS DONE MANUALLY.

TRIPPING:

THIS IS A PROCESS TO STOP THE EQUIPMENT OR SYSTEM


AUTOMATICALLY FOR PROTECTION OF THE EQUIPMENTS
THROUGH INTERLOCKS.
