How to perform CPR
Determine if the patient needs CPR by following these steps:

1. Check scene and patient.


2. Call 9-1-1.
3. Check for breathing.

CPR Steps:

1. Place your hands, one on top of the other, in the middle of


the chest and administer compressions.
2. Deliver rescue breaths.
3. Continue CPR steps until the person shows signs of life or
until a trained medical responder arrives.

Determine whether you need to perform abdominal thrusts.

Administer first aid if the person is:

1. Not coughing.
2. Unable to speak or breathe.
3. Signaling for help.

Steps:

1. Get the person to stand up.


2. Position yourself behind the person.
3. Lean forward and give five blows on their back with the heel
of your hand.
4. Place your arms around their waist.
5. Make a fist and place it just above the navel, thumb side up.

6. Grab the fist with your other hand and push it inwards and
upwards at the same time.

7. Repeat until object is dislodged or the person can breathe or


cough on their own.

How to stop bleeding wounds
1. Apply direct pressure on the cut or wound with a clean cloth,
tissue, or piece of gauze until bleeding stops.
2. If blood soaks through the material, don’t remove it. Put
more cloth or gauze on top of it and continue to apply
pressure.
3. If the wound is on an arm or leg, raise limb above the heart,
if possible, to help slow the bleeding.
