Approaches
 Welfare approach: Dependent on male who are

for development.
 Empowerment approach: Self reliance by
broadening power bases.
 Economists, governments and
international organizations (IOs) defined
development primarily in terms of
traditional measures, such as increased

degree of industrialization. It never
takes in to consideration of the
women who is part of any
development process
