Location
A It was built in an isolated rural area many miles away from the first point
urbanized city of Ahmedabad, one of the most populous in India, in Gujarat
D state, west of the country and bordering with Pakistan to the northwest.
In this city, which enjoys an intense cultural life, commercial and political Kahn
project completes a series of great works of architecture, both ancient and
modern.

The IIM is spread over 67 acres of lush greenery in Vastrapur and was designed by the

 THE TWO CAMPUSES ARE SEPARATED BY A 132 RING ROAD.  THE BUILDINGS ARE CONSTRUCTED IN LOAD BEARING .
 THE PEDESTRIAN UNDER PASS THE TWO CAMPUSES INTO A SINGLE UNIT.  ARCHES ARE EXTENSIVELY USED WHICH ARE CONSTRUCTED IN

 THE AREA AROUND THE UNDERPASS IS DEVELOPED FOR INFORMAL ACTIVITIES, SUMER ; SHORT AND VERY COLD.
INTERACTION SPACES ARE PRESENT, CANTEEN AND OTHER FOOD STALLS ARE FOUND IN WINTER: SHORT AND VERY COLD.
I CLOSE PROXIMITY.  SO THE BUILT FORM SHOULD INSULATE THE LIVING SPACE.
 TRADITIONAL MATERIAL BRICK WAS USED.

• The Vikram Sarabhai Library (VSL) is named after Dr. Vikram
Sarabhai, world renowned physicist and founding Director of
IIMA. It was set up in 1962 and is one of the best Management
Libraries in Asia.
• The library building is FOUR storied structure with
rectangular plan. spread over 20120 sq. ft. It is
approached by a broad, imposing flight of steps from
the parking lot.
• is divided into two wings by a central staircase , One wing is stack
I area and another wing has a reading hall.

provided in the stack area for individual study.
