What is Sixth Sense ?

 Sixth Sense is also known as Wear Ur World (WUW

Device).
 'SixthSense' is a wearable gestural interface that
augments the physical world around us with digital
information.
 Lets us use natural hand gestures to interact with
the Digital Information.
 'SixthSense' sees what you see and visually
augments any surfaces or objects we are interacting
with.

Why Sixth Sense ?

 SixthSense bridges the gap, bringing intangible,

digital information out into the tangible world.
 It allows us to interact with the Digital information via
natural hand gestures.
 ‘SixthSense’ frees information from its confines by
seamlessly integrating it with reality, and thus making
the entire world your computer.
 The Size Minimization of computing devices allows us
to carry computers in our pockets, keeping us
continually connected to the digital world.

Software Requirements
Microsoft Visual studio 2005/2007
 VB.NET Windows application
 SAPI
.NET Framework

This All In All will be costing us about rs20000. for

both the hardware and the software….

Technology Used :
1) Gesture Recognition :
<> It is computer science & language technology which
interpretes Human Gestures via mathematical
algorithms.
<> A way for computers to begin to understand human
body language, thus building a bridge between humans
and machines.
<> Gesture recognition enables humans to interface with
the machine (HMI) and interact naturally without any
mechanical devices
USES :
1) Remote control 2) Alternative computer interfaces
3) Affective computing

3) Image Processing :
<> It is any form of signal processing for which the input
is image, such as photographs/ frames of video & the
output of the image processing can be either an
image or set of characteristics or parameters related
to image.
<> To get actual image to be recognized correctly, the image
is processed and converted into digital format so that it
can be understood by the Digital Device.

4 ) Edge Detection

Edge detection is the process of detecting the edges of the

image.
Image segmentation is the process of partitioning an
image into homogenous regions.
Edge detection algorithms are then applied on these
images so as to get the boundary of different textures.
For non-textured image boundary can be detected by
smoothing and then directly applying edge detection
algorithm .

Edge Detection algorithm
From difference of Pixel
Read the input Pixel.
Read another input pixel.
Take the difference of the RGB values of two pixels.
Display the difference of Pixels.
Smooth the image by applying smoothing Filter.

Conclusion

o SixthSense has the potential of becoming the

ultimate “transparent” user interface for
accessing about everything around us.
o SixthSense bridges the gap between human
physical world and Digital information world.
o It helps to stay human and avoids machine
sitting infront of another machine.
o It can act as fifth sense for those cannot speak
or hear.
