EASTERN VISAYAS
Eastern Visayas is one of the three 5
regions in the Visayas group of islands,
and is designated Region VIII out of the
17 regions of the entire Philippines.The
region is also a destination for marine
adventures like scuba diving, snorkeling
and surfing. At the southern end of Leyte
island, Sogod Bay boasts of a massive
underwater coral gardens ideal for scuba
diving and snorkeling.
BILIRAN is one of the country's smallest and
newest provinces. Formerly a sub-province of
Leyte, it became an independent province in
1992.
Capital City – NAVAL
The town of Naval was once named Bagasumbol, which was perceived by natives
as being too warlike a description.]The aboriginal name was later modified in 1859
to a more peaceful name—the presently known Naval.
FESTIVALS
Hudyaka festival - One of the highlights of Biliran Provincehood
Anniversary on every 11th of May, the festival is a celebration of the
Biliranons’ endeavors as one people with “hudyaka” or merriment. It
showcases the various festivals of it’s component municipalities.

it is also nicknamed as the "City of the Golden
Sunrise/Sunshine" and aspiring to be the "King City of the East".
Its cityhood was settled by the Supreme Court of the Philippines
when it decided with finality on April 12, 2007, the
constitutionality of its city charter, Republic Act 9394, which
conferred upon and elevated the status of the municipality of
Borongan into a component city of the province of Eastern
Samar.[4]
CAPITAL CITY – BORONGAN
Borongan occupies the eastern portion of the island of Samar.
Bordering the province to the north is the province of Northern
Samar and to the west is Samar province.
