    The first half of the 20th century can be called
    black years of history.
    The 1st world war started in Europe that
    engulfed the entire world.
    Fascists and Nazis were on the rise.
    Policy of appeasement against USSR.
    Great economic slump called the Great
    Depression.
    Second world war.
    CAUSES OF FIRST WORLD WAR
    Imperialist rivalries.
    Formation of alliances.
    Conflicts in Europe (Pan-Slav and Pan-
    German movements).
    Assassination of prince of Turkey
    COURSE OF FIRST WORLD WAR
    Italian conspiracy.
    Fighting style changed.
    US entrance in the war.
    Russian withdrawal from the war.
    Non-independent participating nations
    were not freed.
    Harsh peace treaties with Germany.
    League of nations was established.
    RUSSIAN REVOLUTION
    Inspired by the works of Marx and Engels.
    Autocracy of Czars and Serfdom.
    Bolsheviks under Lenin overthrew
    government after revolt.
    Four step movement was started.
    Czar armies were defeated by red army.
    RISE OF FACISM AND NAZISM

    They glorified war and looked down at peace.


    Rise was supported by Great Depression.
    Italy , Germany and Spain became fascist but
    England and France remained democratic.
    US and Russia became superpowers.
    Policy of appeasement led to second world war
    (Anti-comitern pact).
    GREAT DEPRESSION (1929-1933)

    Biggest economy slump ever.


    Led to large scale unemployment and loss
    of products and starvation.
    F.D.Roosevelt started New deal policy.
    CAUSES OF SECOND WORLD WAR

    Policy of appeasement.
    Failure of League of Nations.
    Invasion of Poland.
    COURSE OF SECOND WORLD WAR
    Phony war from Sep 1939 – Apr 1940.
    Conquest of France on 14th June.
    Battle of Britain.
    Invasion of Soviet Union.
    Expansion of war by Japan.
    Battle of Stalingrad – the decline of fascism.
    End of war.
    Second front.
    Capitulation of Japan.
    CONCLUSION

    1.Over 50 million people died.
    2.Estimated cost 1385 billion $US.

    1.UN is a puppet to USA.
    2.US aggression against Arab countries.
