Although=Even though
Despite=In spite of
 Usually replaces –But- and comes at the
beginning of a sentence followed by a coma

e.g. He lies to me, but I love him.


He lies to me. However, I love him.

e.g. Chocolate is unhealthy, but I like it.


Chocolate is unhealthy. However, I like it.
 It takes a clause (subject+verb)

e.g. He lies to me, but I love him.


Although/Even though he lies to me, I love him.

e.g. Chocolate is unhelathy, but I like it.


Although/Even though chocolate is unhealthy, I like it.

e.g. I have a lot of work to do, but I will do my English


homework.
Although/Even though I have a lot of work to do, I will

 It takes a noun or -ing

e.g. He lies to me, but I love him.


Despite/In spite of lying to me, I love him.

e.g. Chocolate is unhelathy, but I like it.


Despite/In spite of being unhealthy, I like chocolate.

e.g. Although/Even though I have a lot of work to do,


I will do my English homework.
