Specialized Training Assistance
Program (STRAP)
• Meet basic eligibility criteria

• Paid $2062 per month

• BSN’s pursing Masters in Anesthesia,


Psychiatric, or Critical Care.

Specialized Training Assistance
Program (STRAP)
Obligation:
• All STRAP obligors incur a service
obligation of 1 year for every 6 months or
portion thereof in which funds have been
received

Health Professional Loan
Repayment Program (AR)

Entitlements
• $20,000 maximum per year for the first
two years and $10,000 for the third or the
remaining balance of the loan or loans,
whichever is less.

• On each anniversary date, (actual signing


of contract), any authorized eligible loan
will be considered for repayment.
• Has been secured for at least 1 year prior
to the current anniversary date

Eligibility:
• Have loans that are made, insured, or
guaranteed through a recognized financial or
educational institution
• AMEDD officers with critical wartime AOC
must be a member of the Selected Reserves
to receive HPLR at any time

The following repayment restrictions apply:


• The repayment cannot exceed the
outstanding balance.
• Loan repayments previously made cannot
be reimbursed
• Payment is to the financial institution, not
the officer

Special Pay

• Provides special pay for RN’s with a BSN


joining the Army Reserve

• Ranges from $5K to $60K

• BSN must be from NLNAC OR AACN


accredited school

Eligibility

• Age - 21-52 y/o (can be waived)


• US Citizen – can be permanent resident to
join Reserves
• Physical Required – meet height/weight
standards
• Law Violations– Background check, Security
Clearance
• Professional Requirements - Credentials

Reserve Units (TPU)

Reserve Units (TPU)

• Troop Program Units (TPUs), or


“Reserve Units”.
• “Traditional” reserve program which
includes a commitment of (1) weekend
each month and a (14) day annual
training event at some point during the
year.
• Members train 16 hours/month + 2
weeks/year

Reserve Units (TPU)
• Training may be performed at the unit, a
medical treatment facility or, with
approval from the assigned unit, training
may be accomplished through CME or
attendance at professional conferences
or military schools.
• Army Reserve medical units may
support large military health care
facilities or augment other medical units
during training exercises.
