Action And Linking
Verb

• An action verb is a verb that


describes an action. Like run,
jump, kick, eat, break, cry, smile,
think, etc.
• A linking verb is a verb that links
(connects) the subject of the
sentence to information about
that subject. Linking verb doesn’t
describe an action and it’s a
intransitive tense.
When Using Action Verbs The Sentences Structures Will Be:

• Subject  Noun
• (Example; I)

• Action Verb  Verb


• (Example; Eat)

• The Rest Of The Sentence  Adjective, Adverb,


Noun, or Complement (Example; An apple)
Example Of An Action Verb;
• He appears from the background.
(Dia muncul dari balik layar)
• I can feel what you feel.
(Aku bisa merasakan apa yang kamu rasakan)
• I get a hundred dollar from my father.
(Aku mendapatkan 100 dollar dari ayahku)
• Kelly grows sunflowers in her yard.
(Kelly menanam bunga matahari di halaman nya)
• Look! the sky is very bright.
(Lihat! langit sangat cerah)
When Using Linking Verbs The Sentences Structures Will Be:

Example Of Linking Verb;
• He appears upset about the announcement.
(Dia tampak kecewa dengan pengumuman itu)
• You looked happy.
(Anda terlihat bahagia)
• She grew tired of walking.
(Dia lelah berjalan kaki)
• I feel good.
(Saya merasa baik)
• The cake you made taste very delicious.
(Kue yang anda buat rasanya sangat lezat)
