WHAT IS PUBLIC ART?

-Dominated by monuments to heroes and religious landmarks

-Reflects modern technology and designs that appeal to global
taste
-aware of design that appeals to the global taste of public art
patrons
-requires collaborative work and engages the services of different
types of people, such as artists, architects etc..
-an art in any media that has been arranged and executed with the goal of being
organized in the physical open area, for the most part outside and available to all.
Open craftsmanship is noteworthy inside the workmanship world, among keepers,
charging bodies and specialists of open workmanship, to whom it means a working
practice of site particularity, network inclusion and joint effort.
ACCORDING TO THE ASSOCIATION
OF PUBLIC ART
Public art is not an art “form.” Its size can be huge or small. It can
tower fifty feet high or call attention to the paving beneath your
feet. Its shape can be abstract or realistic (or both), and it may be
cast, carved, built, assembled, or painted. It can be site-specific or
stand in contrast to its surroundings. What distinguishes public art is
the unique association of how it is made, where it is, and what it
means.

 Community-based Art
Refers to artistic activity based in community setting. Works of
this type can be in any medium, such as found objects, objects
like logs, leaves etc… that are found in the community, for as
long as they engage the members of the community in
interaction or dialogue with the artist.

Community art is artistic activity that is based in a community

setting, characterized by interaction or dialogue with the
community and often involving a professional artist
collaborating with people who may not otherwise engage in
the arts
 Municipal Art

 Typically located in squares, Plaza or in front of government

buildings, law courts, airports, public museums, or academic
institutions.
 Land Art

 Land art or earth art is art that is made directly in the

landscape, sculpting the land itself into earthworks or making
structures in the landscape using natural materials such as
rocks or twigs
 Architecture Art

 Decorates the façade, orchard or enclosed concrete

structure where large number of people converge. It forms
part of an architectural structure or compound

 Architecture is both the process and the product of planning,

designing, and constructing buildings or any other structures.
Architectural works, in the material form of buildings, are often
perceived as cultural symbols and as works of art.
 Commemorative Art

 Aresculptures, whether individual or group of people who are

honored for heroism or historic events
 Design-based public art

 Decorative and usually located in parks or commercial

buildings centers. The design or theme matches the building
and its surrounding.
 Campaign-inspired public art

 Thepublic art that promotes an idea by making visible

reminders to people in public
MIXED MEDIA ART

WHAT IS MIXED MEDIA ART?

 Refers to the artwork that is made from a combination of

mediums or materials. It can be a combination of photograph
and paintings or stones embedded on wood.
 It can be used to express political views, social statements or a
reaction issue.
 The artist are not controlled by conventions of doing art
 TECHNIQUES USED IN MIXED MEDIA
ART
 Collage
An artistic composition of materials
and objects pasted over a flat surface
and is usually hanged in walls
 Assemblage
It is putting together objects and
combining them in new contexts.
Assemblage employs any method of
joining or fastening to make a three
dimension object.
