Recruitment And Selection

Meaning - Recruitment refers to the overall process of


attracting, shortlisting, selecting and appointing suitable
candidates for jobs (either permanent or temporary) within an
organization.

Definition - “recruitment” is the process of finding and hiring the


best and most qualified candidate for a job opening, in a timely
and cost-effective manner. It can also be defined as the “process
of searching for prospective employees and stimulating and
encouraging them to apply for jobs in an organization”.
Meaning - The process of interviewing and evaluating
candidates for a specific job and selecting an individual for
employment based on certain criteria.

Definition -The Selection is the process of choosing the most


suitable candidate for the vacant position in the organization. In
other words, selection means weeding out unsuitable applicants
and selecting those individuals with prerequisite qualifications
and capabilities to fill the jobs in the organization.
Objective Of Recruitment and Selection

1. Determine present and future needs in terms of number and types.


2. Job descriptions meet business requirements .
3. The recruitment process is lawful .
4. The candidate can be confident it is a genuine job offer and The process
can be followed by all stakeholders.
5. Take care of the employment sources.
6. Discover the most effective talents for the openings.
7. Developing the strong Human Resources Advertising system.
8. Reduce the number of underqualified or overqualified applicants .
9. Increase the number of qualified applicants at a specified cost .
10. Evaluate the effectiveness of recruiting sources and evaluation techniques.
